EIPA organizes seminar on REACH REGULATORY FRAMEWORK
The European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) of Luxembourg is organizing the seminar "The REACH regulatory framework” on the February 4th and 5th in Luxembourg City. In order to provide an overview of the key objectives, scope and requirements of the REACH framework, and to study legal remedies against the rejection of applications under REACH, this seminar targets industry, government officials, trade organizations, legal representatives, universities, regulators and other individuals interested in the subject. REACH comes in Europe as a proposal to revise the way that chemicals products were approved. This system, called Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) came into force in June 2007 and basically requires that european chemicals manufacturers or importers register themselves in the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) from the moment that their activities involves quantities exceeding 1 tonne per year, and regulatory compliance is required for the continued manufacture and/or importation of the substance.

UNESCO HELP Program
UNESCO has recently created the Hydrology for the Environment, Life and Policy program (HELP). This aims to be a transversal and multidisciplinary action, coordinated by the International Hydrological Program (IHP), which aims to create a new approach to integrated catchment management through the establishment of a water law framework and the partnership work between experts, water managers and scientists about the water related problems.
HELP has established a global network area to improve the relationship between hydrology and the society needs, through experiences sharing among stakeholders. There are currently 91 HELP basins scattered in 67 countries. More than 600 organizations and hundreds of individual personalities are involved in the HELP program through an online platform.
